On October 30, the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) held its second Book Club session of the academic year, featuring Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes — a powerful exploration of intelligence, emotion, and humanity.
The session invited participants to reflect on the story’s central themes, including the ethical implications of scientific experimentation and the fragile balance between intellect and empathy. Through an engaging discussion, students shared their interpretations of Charlie Gordon’s emotional journey, highlighting how the novel’s message remains deeply relevant today.
Students attended the event, actively contributing to group discussions, interactive tasks, and debates. To encourage participation, light refreshments and small gifts were provided to the most engaged attendees.
This session reinforced the Book Club’s mission to promote reading, critical thinking, and emotional awareness within the university community, while creating a warm and collaborative environment for literary exploration.
