Description:

The Learning Resource Centre hosted an immersive literary session dedicated to “Life of Pi” by Yann Martel — a modern classic celebrated for its profound symbolism, emotional resonance, and unforgettable storytelling.

The discussion delved into the novel’s central themes, including the tension between truth and imagination, the psychology of survival, and the spiritual dimensions that shape Pi Patel’s extraordinary journey across the Pacific Ocean. Participants explored the relationship between Pi and the Bengal tiger Richard Parker, examining how their unlikely companionship symbolizes fear, faith, instinct, and the duality within every human being.

Students reflected on the novel’s layered narrative structure and debated its ambiguous ending — a powerful invitation to question reality, perception, and the stories we choose to believe. From the brutality of nature to the resilience of the human spirit, each viewpoint contributed to a rich, thoughtful conversation.

A warm and adventurous atmosphere — supported by tea, snacks, and engaging prompts — encouraged participants to exchange interpretations, challenge each other's perspectives, and connect through their shared love for imaginative storytelling.
